Use your imagination and Enjoy!
Write love notes or coupons and place them inside balloons. Let your valentine pop the balloons throughout the evening. They receive whatever the coupon says.
Example: 15-minute massage.
How To:
Stretch the opening of the balloon and insert the end of a cardboard paper towel or toilet paper tube (at least half the length of the tube) inside the balloon. Place the note in the end of the tube and shake to drop the note inside the balloon. Blow the balloon up and there you go…a floating love note. Make several for a bigger impact!
I made heart flowers one year. Same idea as Hershey's kisses idea but slip "notes" into tissue hearts instead. [glue tissue hearts together with glue stick and adhere to wooden skewers with tape.]
One year I found mini heart balloons at The Party Store. I took them to the flower shop at my local grocery store and they blew them up for me at no charge. I then placed them inside a box that I had previously decorated, covered them with red tissue paper and then sprinkled glitter over the paper. When my loved one opened the box and removed the tissue paper, tiny little hearts came floating up and glitter went everywhere! It was GREAT!
You'll need an accomplice for this one.
Send an invitation for a show and dinner. Your special someone will think you made reservations for dinner at a restaurant. After the show, a movie or live theatre, your valentine will think you're headed for a restaurant. Instead…take them to the park where your friend has set up an elegantly decorated, candle lit table. You can use one of the picnic tables there… just make sure it's covered with a white tablecloth. Enjoy a very romantic, remote dinner served by your friend (who you will now owe…BIG TIME!)
Make a "Valentine" picnic basket with chocolate covered strawberries, champagne (it enhances the flavor of the strawberries) fruit, cheese and anything else you enjoy. Just make sure it's finger food. Spread out a blanket on the carpet and sprinkle with rose petals. Set out some candles and dim the lights.
Prepare their favorite dishes for dinner and serve each course in a different room of the house ending with dessert in your special place. [I found this one on the web]
Carefully slit open a bag of Hershey kisses. Gently unwrap the candy, being careful not to rip the silver paper. Remove the Hershey tags. Write all the reasons that you love your special someone on the same size paper tags that are wrapped around the Hershey kiss candies. Replace the Hershey notes with your notes and rewrap the candy. Place candy kisses back inside the bag and seal with invisible tape.
It's been a while since I have done this, but I think there are about 50-60 kisses inside a bag of Hershey kisses. Try to write enough notes to wrap around all the kisses. Once you get going, it's easier than you think.
Example: "I love your gentle kisses" or "I love the way you make me feel when you walk into the room."
As a single parent for many years, I've always tried to make my children's holidays extra special, even Valentine's Day.
-Make them a special candlelight dinner.
-Fill balloons with coupons allowing them to skip chores.
-Throw a V-Day slumber party for them.
-Create a treasure hunt throughout the house. The treasure is a box of candy.
Cut out hearts from red tissue paper and fill a see through white balloon. Blow it up with helium and tie it to your honey's chair. Write a dinner menu on a decorated card and place it on his plate. Dessert should read: Hundreds of kisses. After dinner, indicate that you'll be serving dessert now and as you pop the balloon your honey will be showered with kisses as you state "…and it starts right here".
One of my very dear friends asked me the other day if I would share some romantic Valentine's Day ideas. I happen to be one of those people that truly enjoy the little things in life. So, while my ideas may not be expensive gift ideas or the typical dinner reservations at the popular high-end restaurant, I can't imagine anyone who would not enjoy the thoughtfulness and planning that obviously went into creating a very romantic evening…just for them. Here are a few of the ideas that I came up with.
